Home colourants do not contain enough peroxide to lighten dark hair to anything other then orange. If you want to lighten your hair yourself and it has not been dyed already, you can use a high lift tint. A high lift tint is a cream that you mix with a peroxide (both available at your local Sallys). I would recommend shade 6 or 7 mixed with 12% 40 vol peroxide. A high lift tint will lighten your hair 5 shades without the harsh effects of bleach. If you choose to bleach your hair, consult a professional.

Please don't do it yourself. You want to jump too many shades. I've heard you shouldn't try to dye your hair more than a shade or two lighter. So you could do a lighter brown safely. if you are going to do that either go get it done professionally where they will do it right or do it in steps....

you can not just go from a dark color to a light color....go from dark to a little less dark then a little less then light.

sounds stupid and it might not be the case for you but trust me...it has happened

yeah definitly going from dark brown to blond..you need to see a professional!!! your hair will be orange you will pay more but it will definitly be worht it....you would probably end up at a salon after you dyed your hair anyway...
