When it comes to coloring hair, can two different hair dyes be used?

Am thinking of coloring my hair. When useing a home hair coloring kit, can two different color tones be used on my hair? Like for example, coloring the upper part of my head of hair a darker color and the lower back part of my hair a lighter color on lower section of the head. Any good tips or good ideas from anyone out there taht knows hair dyeing techniques? I want to do this myself, if I can. Dont have the funds to go to a beauty parlor. I am wanting to use the Loreal hair color. Dark colors. The person that can come up with the most helpful advice will be chosen, but please, without all the links and the "go to this web page and that web page", type of stuff. Can anyone help with good positive input on this? Please. Thanks so much.

When it comes to coloring hair, can two different hair dyes be used?

yes you can and i will give you as much information as i possible can but first you will need to tell me how long is the hair

have you any colours in it (and i mean at all in the past few years even temporary ones)

when did you last have it cut

what is the natural colour

what colour are you going to use on it

you could if you like go to the parlor and ask them if you can view the colour chart and pick out the colours that you like and tell me them with the other information i can give you professional advice and a few tips on how to best achieve a great outcome

mail me here to markhenderson72@yahoo.ie and i will do what i can to help

You will need a friend's help. Part and separate the top and bottom sections of your hair. Make sure the part is even. You're going for edgy, not messy. Color the top section of you hair first. Be vigilant that it doesn't drip on bottom section. Lean forward to rinse WELL (clear water). Pin up top section. Do same to bottom except lean back to rinse.

ok, yes two colors aas long as they are close in the colors it will work. but remember something, if you mix a dark color and a lite color, mostly the darker color will take more power and the color of your hair will probably be darker than lighter.

what i would suggest you to do is the following. dye your hair with the darker shade first. then wait a week. then pay a color which matchs the one you have on your head, just slightly lighter. then dye your hair again and see what happens. if the hair color is still too dark and you want it lighter, again wait another week and try a lighter color again.

also instead of the loreal dark colors, in a drug store or large discount stores, they carry color kits that bring the color plus a set for highlights. you can try this too. you dye the hair and then just before put the highlight parts on the hair and follow the directions.

I think the best way to achieve this is to section the hair into 2 sections exactly the way you want to color it. I would apply the lighter color first because your lifting and depositing color. Separate the two sections with foil or a plastic cap. Do the top section and watch the process time for both applications. The darker color you can apply from root to end the lighter color you have to apply to shaft (middle) first then go back and apply to roots and pull through the ends. (usually about 20-25 minutes after application. Good Luck

You can use two different dyes if you're going to color your hair in this method. First make sure both colors are by the same company. Section your hair really well because you don't want them to mix together. I really suggest you do the lighter color on the bottom first then wait 3 days and do the darker one on top. I say this for three reasons

1) Usually when you go lighter the color has a bleaching agent in it (especially blond) and you definetly don't want to mix this with a dark color

2) when you rinse the colors out you dont want them to mix and you end up with streaky hair. It's always easier to see the front and top of your head than it is the back

and 3) you don't want your hair to fall out!!!

Mixing colors will definetly do that. If you let me know what two colors you're going to do I can walk you through it step by step. OH! I am a licensed cosmetologist. Have been for 10 years now and one of my specialties is color.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

Last night a friend gave me some Loreal hair dye. It was the kind that you use when you dye your hair black then put it on the ends and streaks...REALLY RED. Well I have brown hair and did it anyways. My hair looks like I just escaped a fight and lost. It is as red as blood. NOW, I need to get it back to brown but someone told me I can't just dye it brown because it will turn orange...NO! Any advice would be great and I know I'm an idiot thanks for the note ;)

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

Ok I have experience in this. I dyed my WHOLE head super firehydrant red once and I couldnt look at it, it was so painfully red.

Use a good cleansing shampoo and wash the dyed hair twice for 3minutes each time (DO NOT CONDITION). Wait a couple days and the color should be lighter. Buy Loreal Colour Expert in a color CLOSEST to yours (I would reccomend going a shade lighter, because it will blend better as your roots come in and the highlights will really break up the color and correct any mistakes), also buy a "COOL" or "NEUTRAL" shade (the boxes will tell you if its a cool shade) to cancel out any red or orange tones. The end result I PROMISE you'll be happy with. Make sure you have a friend or your mother doing it for you, and I would place the color starting from tip to root (instead of the normal visversa). Follow the directions very carefully! I would say you should leave the color on your hair 10minutes longer then they reccomend. Place the highlights in natural areas (not streaky)- do random thin strands sweeping around your face line and very few strands in the back.

Good luck!

Consult a nearby GOOD beautician..

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

well red is the hardest color to get out of your hair. i have done this to my hair before and well i like it but then i am wierd. so my advice would be go to a professional. you really do not want to try and mess with it yourself anymore.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

yes-go to a good beauty salon...

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

I would try to go to a professional for this one. My mother in law and sister in law own their own beauty shop and I wouldnt' trust anyone other than a professional to dye my hair, which I do every 6-8 weeks.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

Wait a few days and try to color the red parts a light brown it should lighten the fire engine red a little.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

Ohh, this happens to my mom all the time.

Dye it Dark Brown, that way your hair would be

Chestnut Brown.

Ohh and one more thing, Bloody Red is damn sexy.

Try keeping it?!

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

go to a hair salon. i wouldnt use those cheap hair dyes in the box! I tried to dye my hair and my roots came out orange! I had to go to the beauty salon. plus those cheap hair dyes they make your hair like straw..

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

you should consult a beatican that you trust and no cuz then you know that they wont screw up

but i wouldnt try dying my hair again

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

Use a very dark brown. When you do one over the other they make a nice dark auburn shade. Or if you'd rather have it back to exactly the way it was wait a week or two and bleach your hair and then re-dye it. But make sure you wait a few weeks because to many chemicals will make your hair turn brittle and dull, and in some people there hair falls out form too many chemicals.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

ok,first go to a beauty supply store and by a color fix kit.temp color) this would tone down the red. but you should wait about a week before you do your hair again. then you should most likely have to stip out hte old color and tone over it.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

You'll need to go to a beauty salon. My daughter did the same thing and it cost me 280.00 they spent over two hours on her hair they had to strip it and dye it black to cover it. She a natural brown and dyed it blonde but it turned yellow and white.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

Is there an 800 number on the box? I would call them and ask what color you should use to return to your desired color. These people can be very helpful. My daughter goes out of her way to get that blood red Gothe look. You may have to condition more since your dyeing on top of a fresh dye job. I don't think you could get orange from brown and red. My daughter was red and wanted to have a more normal color brown for graduation pictures and we didn't have any trouble with orange. Good luck and your not an idiot.

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

omg that happend to me i got my hair dyed red and it came out bloond and orunge because the girl didnt use a filler the filler helps keep the color in now every time i dye my hair it comes out like 2 weeks later then i asked a hairstyleist what i should do she said my hair was damaged it mite be the same for you but i dont know

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

try washing n drying it as much as you can, i just went through a simular problem, the store products are ok to use, you just have to know to use ash or whatever, after washing a lot maybe then you should go to a hair salon, all is NOT hopeless, you can work with this. good luck forgot, you will need to use a good conditioner as well. also, i put baby oil in my hair for 15 minutes before washing, good luck again, hope this helps you some

Hair advice please...I screwed up?

Girl, you need to get to a professional hairdresser. You want to make sure they use the right chemicals on your hair so that the color is actually absorbed. You don't want your hair to get more damaged if you do it wrong again. Good luck!

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

Last night I bought a box of Loreal Color pulse hair dye in black.I did all of the instructions right. My hair is a medium shade of brown. The hair dye was purple, but it turned black after it was in my hair. I washed it out under the faucet in my bathroom until all of the purple was out.But I still have some purple streaks in my hair. What went wrong?

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

I totally hate colour pulse!!! One time i used the mahogany colour and it turned my hair bright orange!!!! Then it just wouln't wash out!!! My hair was like that for almost 6 months!! It took that long to wash out!! I hate them and I would never ever use it again!!

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

You didn't let it stay in your hair long enough. When dying it black, a blueish purple is what turns your hair black. If you don't let it stay in long enough, it will turn your hair purple as well.

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

OMG!!! we should have a strike againt Loreal Color Pulse. I tried to dye my hair honey blonde but I ended up bleach blonde!!! I really think that the products are just poor quality.

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

Well since it was dyed, maybe you had blonde highlights that soaked up too much of the dye

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

The previous answer to your question is correct. If you want a quick fix........Find a Sally's Beauty Supply near you or another Beauty Supply Store in your neighborhood. Walk in and say "HELP", they may be able to give you a quick and inexpensive fix........Done this and they have fixed my problems.

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

I heard that with the at-home kits, being you had colored hair already, doesn't really work out that well. Cosmetologist always say not to dye your hair at home once you already have color because the next time the color won't come out how you want it. I recommend going to a salon to get the color you want.

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

your question is kinda confusing......are you looking to turn it purple or black, because you say that the "dye was purple, but it turned black after it was in your hair".

Here is a lesson is OXIDATION which is what happens when using color.....The color that you are trying to establish, whether it dark or light, other than bleach is going to change colors and be darker due to oxidation. So the purple you are seeing is just the process of oxidation. In order to fix what you have done, you will need to redo and follow the INSTRUCTIONS. that is what they are there for.

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

I dyed my hair with that too, but if you have bleached your hair or used something with bleach in it, it makes the color way lighter. I had brownish streaks in my hair and i put the purple dye over it and it turned red. The dye is for people who haven't bleached their hair because the chemical reactions make your hair damaged.

Loreal Color pulse disaster!!!?

i suggest getting it professionally done next time. then you most likely will not have that problem, because the dye is a higher quality.

Loreal Feria #110?

Okay so I used to have brown hair (like, medium brown hair..not too dark and not really light) Then, i dyed it blonde for the first time about 2 years ago. Well, I had been going to the same guy to get my roots touched up every 6 weeks and then then he died. Since then, I have tried 3 other hairdressers and none of them were that great..My hair was always..brassy..So i decided to buy Loreal Feria #110 to do my roots and I really liked the results!! they were perect! No brassiness and it looked perfect! Then after only 2 or so weeks i could start seeing roots again! Ive never started seeing roots soo quickly!! Am I doing something wrong?..What do I need to do?

Loreal Feria #110?

It could be that the L'Oreal brand is simply not holding in your hair that long. It is probably fading out fast, plus it's a drug store brand. Try using a Professional Salon Brand.

If you shop at Sally Beauty Supply, you may want to consider longer lasting professional salon brands such as Clairol Professional or Wella. You can find hair swatches on shelf at Sally that will help you pick the right shade.

Don't use L'Oreal products...they test on animals. Try something by Paul Mitchell instead. Great products and cruelty-free.

Loreal Natural match?

Hi, about two months ago, i dyed my hair with clairol natural instincs in a dark brown chestnut, but it turned out closer to black then brown. (my hair is naturally black, but i really want it dark brown). Today, i just bought Loreal Natural Match in Dark Golden brown, which is a lighter shade of dark brown. becasue my hair is so dark, do you think that the lighter brown will make it dark brown, not black? thanks a billlion

Loreal Natural match?

It should appear lighter, not darker. But just in case, read the package and check out what the result for you may be if you have black hair.

How long does hair colour stay in u r hair?

i wanted to know as how long does loreal hair colour stay cause it does not suite me and wanted to use a home made remedy to wash off the hair colour to my natural look pls help me

How long does hair colour stay in u r hair?

well if you bought permanent then it will stay in there until it grows out or you put color over it. It might fade slightly, but it will be in there permanently. If it was semi-permanent it will fade out with every wash.

If you are trying to get rid of the color quickly I would suggest coloring it again. But do not try to color it a lighter color, it must be darker. If you want it a lighter color then you need go to a professional.

How long does hair colour stay in u r hair?
